Brand: In the Company of Saints
I designed and carved the original of the tile, made a mold, and cast it in cold cast metal. We then put a patina on the tile and inserted it in the frame, which is also handmade and is cast in modified gypsum and hand painted. The piece comes with both a history card affixed to the back of the frame and a card in the box stating: "Many stories tell of Francis being a close friend with animals, living with them as equals, talking to them, blessing them (see his Canticle of the Creatures). Animals wandered in and out of his abode, communicated with him, were healed by him, and cheered him. Thus, many churches now hold a blessing of animals on Francis's feast day (Oct. 4). This image of Francis blessing animals was handmade at In the Company of Saints in Natchez, Mississippi." There is a hanger on the back of the frame. The piece comes boxed. Dimensions of frame: 8.25 (h) in. x 8.25 (w) in. x 5/8 in. (d)
