Brand: Guerilla Prayer Flags
This prayer flag honors the beautiful and beleaguered city of Juarez, Mexico, where our workshop is located. This city is a symbol for all too many places in our world where the forces of fear and greed have made people's lives a daily struggle for survival, but where every day there are thousands untold stories of love, strength, sacrifice, and faith. This prayer flag has block printed symbols of a butterfly and a phoenix and, written in Spanish: "Ave Fenix: La Esperanza De Un Cambio En Medio De La Desolacion. ElAmor Que Hay En La Gente Hace Que Surja La Transformacion." ("The Pheonix Bird: The hope of change in the midst of desolation. The love within people that transforms all it touches.") Butterfly and phoenix symbols are block-printed on the bright panels of this prayer flag.. These prayer flags are made in a small shop in Juarez, Mexico, a city ravaged by poverty and violent crime. The women in our shop take tremendous pride in producing the best quality prayer flags available at a modest price. They are made of a durable weight cotton poplin so they will not 'scrunch up' or tear in the wind. Our workshop is part of a community development project run by the Sisters of Charity (proyectosantonino.org), who have a community center for families with special needs children. This project supports several of these families and ALL of our proceeds go directly to the people making the prayer flags. Each strand of prayer flags consists of nine panels, each 6"-5", and the strand is approximately 54" long. They look great indoors or outdoors! If you would like this set of prayer flags in a color combination other than rainbow, check out our custom color options offered for $3.00 over our regular price. The following colors are available: Scarlet, Deep Orange, Golden Yellow, Bright Green, Turquoise and Plum. Our panels are dyed twice so each panel has unique and varied shading. (Please allow two weeks for delivery for all custom items).
