. She is a beautiful fairy deserving a special place. This is Ribbon and Stumpwork Embroidery of The Song of the Zinnia Fairy by Cicely Mary Barker 9 1/2" X 12" in a 2" deep Shadowbox. Handmade by me. This picture is very 3-D and deep; the flowers, skirt, and butterfly wings are more than 1 1/2" deep in some places. Much of the ribbon and wire & glitter ribbon is so thick it took pliers to pull the needle with it through the artwork. If you are interested in Ribbon & Stump embroidery, I wrote several how-to articles for Ehow Ribbon embroidery and stumpwork originated in Medieval times. I used more than 20 ribbons to copy the color of Cicely Barker's picture. (Her estate gives written permission in her book to copy and embroider and sell, on a limited basis, her artwork.) I matted the inside of shadowbox with an opalescent glitter two + tone ribbon. This artwork is ready for hanging. I presently have a 9 1/2" X 12" plastic sheet scotch taped to top to keep out dust; but you could easily remove that for better viewing. There is a lot to see in this picture. This Beautiful Mahogany Wood Shadowbox with Glass was a gift to me 3 years ago. I didn't know what to do with it until I saw the Butterfly Gate of the Brooklyn Museum that inspired me to bead this butterfly. Fuscia, Purple, Blue dyed Silk embellished with silver lined pink, gold, blue and brown large and small beads, as well as sequins, twisted gold and silver bugle beads, seed beads, pendant, large shiny and carved beads for body and carved bead for head. The last picture is the Butterfly Gate at the Brooklyn Museum that inspired this work. The shadow box is 9 1/2" X 7 1/2" X 1 3/4" deep I ship everywhere.

"How Much is That Kitty in the Window?" 10 x 8 x1 3/4 Deep Art Quilt in Vintage Shadow Box of Ribbon & Stump Embroidery. I quilted this preprinted fabric with free motion quilting; a rearraged the composition to suit shadowbox. This Art Quilt is embellished with real feathers. The eyes are tiny bronze beads. I used trapunto, padding of stump embroidery on the body of both birds. The embroidery floss is very silky & shiny that really makes the kittens stand out. This work protrudes up to 3/4" and shadow box is 1 1/4" deep in open position. This is a nice vintage dark wood with glass lid, filigree hinges, dovetail corners, and bracket for hanging on back. F

This hand sewn by me in Ribbon & Stump embroidery style and displayed it in a favorite Antique Art Nouveau Glass frame. It was all so 1920's it all had to go together. The back of shadowbox frame reads: Victory-type easel back, but it also has a metal picture hangar on top of back. The Ribbon is pulled through the background black velvet canvas fabric to make petals, leaves and stems. The Stump part is where ribbon has padding under the ladybug to make him even fuller. This is a very 3-D picture. This is an art form started in the 17th century. Good thing the shadow box is 2 inches deep. The second picture is before I put the front glass on (with glue and tape); you can see how three dimensional the petals, leaves, and ladybug are.
