In Asian art,Cherry Blossoms and Red Winter Plum Blossoms are somewhat synonymous. Both are harbingers of spring and are considered welcoming.
Cherry trees bloom in early spring, when it is still cold. Tiny flowers appear without leaves, which arrive later in the year. This unique showing is seen as brave and inspiring hope, symbolic of the strength that comes from surviving a harsh winter, and the good fortune that comes with strength of character.
In Chinese culture, the color red is very important. Red attracts good fortune and frightens away bad fortune. According to legend, the Chinese people were being terrorized by an enormous beast called the Nian, translating to,¡°Year¡± in English.
The Nian would appear every New Year's Day,the first day of lunar calendar. Nian would devour the people's crops, livestock and even children.
One New Year's Day,the people saw two things. Nian would not eat children wearing red,and some firecrackers frightened Nian. Nian fled before destroying everything and the people decided to prepare.
Today,in China, red cherry blossoms are the one of the most popular flowers for home decor. Often, cherry or plum blossom images are displayed in the entrance way or living room for a big welcome to guests. In Feng Shui, blossoms are recommended in areas for contemplation, like a bedroom, office or study. A perfect motivation to complete a degree, run for office or become CEO.

In Chinese symbology, irises are the dancing spirits of the early part of summer, and the petals are symbolic of butterfly wings, free and flying in the wind. Irises are called ¡°Purple Butterflies¡± Irises are characterized as inspiring faith, hope, wisdom and valor.
Centuries ago, when Susho began to evolve from home furnishing and clothing, the Emperor and his court wanted wall art to decorate their palaces. The aristocrats favored natural scenes, wanting to capture the detail and texture of flora and fauna. Susho artists learned to please the taste of the elites, by making natural scenes as realistic as possible.
Symbolically, the images were meant to permanently capture the essences and benefits of the subjects. Even an Emperor cannot keep an iris alive forever, but capturing its soul in silk will make it a captive, eternally.

Many varieties of tulips are native to China. In Chinese culture, tulips are a declaration of love. Symbolically, the meaning can vary greatly depending on the color. Orange and yellow tulips express yearning or having passionate thoughts.
In Feng Shui, tulips with yellow tones relieve anxiety and rid the environment of negative energy. Orange tones provide warmth, enthusiasm, confidence and satisfaction. Orange inspires a passion for life.

King Silk Art makes silk embroidery wall art, 100% hand-stitched by Master Artists in Suzhou, China. Our artwork, Susho, is completely natural, created with tiny needles and pure silk thread. Susho is a 2500 year old family tradition, with a unique and fascinating history. This inspiration for this Susho® was Vincent Van Gogh's Vase with Twelve Sunflowers, painted in Arles, France. Vincent van Gogh was born in Holland, where sunflowers are ubiquitous, and he painted many variations throughout his life. In 1888, Paul Gauguin invited van Gogh for a visit at his house in Arles, along with other artists, the plan was to paint together and share experiences. Earlier, while they were both in Paris, Gauguin traded one of his own paintings for 2 of van Gogh's sunflower paintings, so van Gogh knew his host enjoyed his sunflowers. He decided to paint a series of 5 as a gift, this is one of them. One of Van Gogh's most popular works, the original is hanging in Munich, Germany's Neue Pinakothek. Van Gogh love of layering paint, creating texture to evoke meaning, is beautifully recreated by our silk artists' mastery of layering stitches. In Feng Shui, the sunflower symbolizes longevity, good luck and success. Its yellow color signifies vitality, hardwork, intelligence and attracts wealth.
